The towns north of Moscow were once links in a chain of stations on the Washington, Idaho, and Montana Railroad. Other nearby stations were Wellesley, Yale, Vassar, Cornell, and Purdue. Potlatch is known as a “company town”, having been founded by Potlatch Lumber Company.
